• Molluscum contagiosum – caused by a poxvirus ( MC )
• Condylomata lata – caused by the Syphilis spirochaete bacteria
Our clinic offers various treatments for these conditions, including topical treatments, cryotherapy ( liquid nitrogen ) or injections ( for syphilis ). Minor surgery may also be performed if necessary.
Genital warts can be prevented in both men and women. Do speak with our doctor regarding the HPV vaccine or Cervical Cancer vaccine. The vaccines are safe and can even be given to children from 10 years of age, before they have any risk of catching the infection. In patients who already have HPV infection or genital warts, it is important to consider vaccination for your partner as well.
Not all lumps and bumps that we see around the genital region are caused by STIs. Our doctor will take a relevant history and examine the affected area(s) to determine the most likely cause. Some of the other causes are listed in the table below.
