Urethral Discharge
Urethral Discharge may be caused by the following:
For Men
- Chlamydia
- Gonorrhoea
- Trichomonas
-
Non-specific urethritis
(eg. from Mycoplasma or Ureaplasma infection)
True urethral discharge may be caused by the sexually transmissible infections ( STIs ) listed above, other ( non STI ) infections, or it may be physiological ( normal response of our body to stimulation or hormonal changes ), a result of prostatitis ( prostate inflammation ), calculi ( stones ) in the urinary tract, or other causes.
It may occur alone, or in combination with other symptoms such as pain on passing urine, itch along the urethra, swelling and pain around the scrotum, or swollen glands ( lymph nodes ) in the groin.
In addition, it has to be differentiated from leakage of urine ( incontinence ), as well as discharge arising from the skin around the glans (head) of the penis.
If you or your partner suspect urethral discharge, do come and consult our doctor at your earliest convenience.
